  51. It is time to update our history curriculum and I love the list of authors and contributors you have named: Lasseter, Sommerfeldt, Smith, Hitchcock, the Wilhelmsens, etc. Outstanding!

  52. I would love to get a history book! I'd give it to my daughter, who is homeschooling her kids. So far, she has an almost-four-year-old son who reads at a fourth-grade level. Oops, sorry, a year ago that was his reading level! So I'm sure he'd be interested in the book, and his little sisters will eventually be interested, too. Thanks for the chance to win!

  55. I spent the first several years of our homeschooling adventure being against the idea of using textbooks instead of original texts. However, after finding the Catholic Textbook series, I discovered that all textbooks are not in fact the mind-deadening lists of facts I put up with during my own years at school. We all love these books. Since we are studying one period at a time, I assign the portion of the book that coincides with the era we are studying (this year it was medieval history) as well as wonderful original sources, literature of the era, and historical fiction set at the same time. We also add music and art from the era as well, and everything goes into each child's personal timeline notebook that I hope they will really use as adults. Thanks for making history a whole ton easier than it would be without you!

  64. i have used From Sea to Shining Sea with my 6th grader who has learned so well with it. The clarity of the layout and of the writing makes it possible for the child to read the text on her own. The maps are excellent. We found the biographies entertaining and helpful. Finally, we really appreciate the balanced Catholic viewpoint. It is not a hagiography but a true story of our common heritage, an account that no other school book that I have seen has been able to translate so well for the junior high crowd. I would be very interested to win All Ye Lands for my daughter's 7th grade next year.
